How to Build a Thrift BOLO List That Actually Works

A BOLO (“be on the lookout”) list turns chaotic thrifting into a repeatable sourcing system. The best lists come from your sold history—not from someone else’s haul montage.
Start from last month’s winners
List the 10–15 SKUs that sold fastest with healthy net profit. Note brand, size range, max buy, and where you found them. That’s your core BOLO.
Add seasonal layers
Keep a short seasonal addendum: outdoor gear before trips, holiday items early, coats before cold weather. Buying against the season creates dead stock.
Cap the list
If your BOLO has 80 items, you don’t have a list—you have FOMO. Keep it scannable so you can move through aisles without freezing.
Update weekly
Remove categories that stop selling. Promote new winners. A living BOLO beats a laminated fantasy list.
